    It is interesting to note that the GMT-Master ref. 1675 is the only professional model to be offered by Rolex with the Jubilee bracelet directly as original equipment, as an alternative to the usual Oyster bracelet

    The introduction of the GMT-Master model originated from a request submitted to Rolex by one of the most famous airlines of the 1950s, Pan-Am Airlines,
    following the adoption of the new Boeing jets.
    The use of these planes, capable of non-stop intercontinental flights, led the company to face an inconvenience that had never occurred before:
    jet lag.partnership Rolex & Pan-Am Pilots and crew found themselves crossing several time zones in a relatively short period of time,
    arriving at their destination tired and confused.
    Studies on this particular phenomenon commissioned by Pan-Am itself highlight the benefits of being able to know the local time and the time at the place of departure at the same time, prompting the company to look for a watch suitable for this purpose.
    From this need arose a close collaboration with Rolex that led to the creation of the GMT-Master in 1954, after about a year of joint research.
